'working tools' material of choice

Post 'working tools' material of choice
I'm wondering what the best material would be to make tools.
I've had quite a few requests to manufacture some of the working tools of the degrees.

These have been in combinations of mostly wood, but some metal as in one particular third degree tool.

I'm wondering if strictly wood is the more 'correct' (historically speaking) substance in which to create tools.

My reasoning comes from the description of the origional temple being constructed. " 1Kings, 6:7 The temple was built with stone blocks that were finished at the quarry. No hammer, chisel, or any other iron tool made a sound at the temple construction site. "
