Post masonic charity
With the credit crunch every one is finding money tight, what do you think of a lodge making a VOLUNTARY CHARITY SUBSCRIPTION,the word voluntary then insisting every member gives a set ammount to charity.every year even though there are charity events most of the year, and some people support all events,as some do not.I would be interested to know other peoples feelings on the matter ,as we all like to give to charity when we can should we be forced into giving maybe when we need the money for daily living .As it states in the 1st degree there are many members of rank and opulence Question

Nobody should be forced to give to a particular charity.
Giving to charity for many is not always in the form of common monitary demoninatins.

I collect aluminum cans for a children's burn center...
The tops (pull tabs) of the cans are saved back for the lodge charities.

There are many other such actions which are all charity.

In a world which revolves around coin money lately, I think we all need to keep in mind of many oportunities to have charity.
One example is, offering a smile and opening the door for someone is also charity and shows Brotherly love.
Another is volunteering at the children's home, or senior citizen's center.

No nobody should be forced to give a set amont of money.
If a lodge feels compelled to have 100% participation in a charity, request a single unit of money from everyone.
This amount should likely be something around the equivelant cost of a cup of coffee.
