There could only be 2 reasons for this:

1) Your PC or Browser is not setup for the English language fonts.

2) Java is not enabled on your PC or Browser

a similar problem encountered for masonic books online: Masonic Monitor by Davis.

Maybe there is an alternate way of obtaining the pdf file?

You need to enable Java on your PC.
No alternate way to get pdf files.
We have no problems from our side, already more than one thousand visitors read the book.
