Post Wood (vs Stone) Freemasons
I am currently reading Daniel Veresnaik's book symbols of FREEMASONRY published in 2000 by Assouline Publishing. On page 72 he makes the following statement which peaqued my curisity. "in the eighttteenth century, there also existed a Freemasonry of wood with its own appropraite tool, in particular the axe."

I have not heard of this particular variant of the Craft and would appreciate any leads my brothers would be so kind as to share with me which would direct me to other refrences to this interesting subject.

Fraternally,

Ken Shotwell. JW

Could this be a reference to the Ancient Order of Foresters?

In further examination in the ("non fraternal?") organisation - Woodmen of the World
in the Ceremony of Introduction in the Protection Degree
(Promulgated by the Ritual Committee of the Sovereign Camp, 1903)

Physical axes actually do feature!
